This is Fully Fashioned Knitwear and all guernseys produced by Le Tricoteur are made this way because of the advantages it provides. Because the individual parts are knitted to shape (by increasing or decreasing the the number of stitches in a row) the garment is stronger and holds its shape better in wear and in washing. If during rough wear a seam bursts, there will be no damage to the individual pieces.
